AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TOEXECUTE A FUNDING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF DENTON AND OUR
DAILY BREAD, INC. FOR THE PAYMENT AND USE OF AMERICAN RESCUE PLANFUNDING; PROVIDING FOR THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TOEXCEED $240,000.00; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Denton has received Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery
Funds (SLFRF) under the American Rescue Plan Act to provide support to State, territorial, local,
and Tribal governments in responding to the economic and public health impacts of COVID-19
and in their efforts to contain impacts on their communities, residents, and businesses; and
WHEREAS, the ongoing economic impact of the Coronavirus public health emergency
has resulted in an increase in homelessness and housing instability; and
WHEREAS, responding to economic harms to workers and families as a result of the
COVID pandemic is an eligible expense under SLFRF; and
WHEREAS, the City developed the Hotel Voucher program to address the increase infamily homelessness due to economic impacts from COVID-19 and to increase access to
temporary shelter programs and services for City of Denton residents; and
WHEREAS, the Community Services Department is designated as the department
responsible for the administration of the Agreement and all matters pertaining thereto; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it in the public interest to enter into the Agreement in
support of much needed services for Denton residents; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager or their designee is hereby authorized to execute an
agreement between the City of Denton and Our Daily Bread, Inc. in substantially the form attached
hereto for the payment and use of Nonprofit Capacity Support grant funding under the terms and
conditions contained in the agreement.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
