AN ORDiNANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON AUTHORIZING THE ADDITION OF EARLYVOTING AND ELECTION DAY POLLING LOCATIONS FOR THE CITY OF DENTONCITY COUNCIL AND SPECIAL ELECTIONS TO BE HELD ON MAY 6, 2023; ANDPROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on February 7, 2023, Ordinance No. 23-088 was adopted ordering an election
to be held on May 6, 2023 for the purpose of electing Council Members to Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4;
and
WHEREAS, on February 7, 2023, Ordinance No. 23-322 was adopted ordering a specialelection for the proposition of determining whether City Council Member Jesse Davis shall beremoved from District 3 Seat of the City Council by Recall; and
WHEREAS, as part of the May 6, 2023 election orders, specific early voting and election
day polling locations were adopted, further providing for additional or different polling placesdesignated by the Elections Administrator and to conform to a joint election agreement and
contract for election services to be approved at a later date; and
WHEREAS, on February 21, 2023, City Council consensus was for staff to schedule
additional deliberation and formal consideration of additional polling locations at the March 7,
2023 Council Meeting; NOW THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby establishes the following additional polling
location(s) for the May 6, 2023 City Council and Special Elections subject to the approval of the
County Elections Administrator.
• EARLY VOTING (ALL DISTRICTS) AND ELECTION DAY (DISTRICTSPECIFIC)
o Wesley Center (Chapel) -1501 Maple Center
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
