ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS CHANGING RAILROAD AVENUE
TO A ONE-WAY STREET HEADING SOUTH BETWEEN MCKINNEY STREET/FM 426
AND HICKORY STREET; PROVIDING FOR THIRTY DEGREE ANGLE PARKING ON
THE EAST AND PARALLEL PARKING ON THE WEST SIDE OF RAILROAD AND
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE;
PROVIDING A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS; AND
DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. When signs or markings are in place giving notice thereof. the following
street or portion of a street shall be designated for only one-way traffic heading south and it shall
be unlawful to travel north on that portion of the street:
On Railroad Avenue from its intersection with McKinney Street/FM-426 to its
intersection with Hickory Street.
SECTION II. The parking of vehicles on Railroad Avenue from its intersection with
McKinney Street/FM 426 to its intersection with Hickory Street shall be designated as described
below and any parking contrary to the following provisions shall be unlawful except when it is
necessary to stop a vehicle to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the direction
of a police officer or official traffic control device.
On the east side of the street thirty degree angled parking will be allowed with nc
parking within twenty-five feet of McKinney Street/FM 426 or Hickory Street tc
allow intersection clearance and with no parking that blocks access to any driveways..
2. On the west side of the street parallel parking should be allowed with no parking
within twenty-five feet of McKinney Street/FM 426 or Hickory Street to allow
intersection clearance and with no parking that blocks access to any driveways.
SECTION III. All provisions of the ordinances of the City of Denton in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed; and all other provisions of the ordinances of the
City of Denton, not in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance, shall remain in full force
and effect.
SECTION IV. If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or
circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions or applications,
and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are severable.
SECTION V. Any person adjudged guilty of parking a vehicle in violation of this
ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and punished by a fine not to exceed Five Hundred
Dollars ($500.00).

SECTION VI. This ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14) days from the date of
its passage, and the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance to be
published twice in the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official newspaper of the City of Denton;
Texas, within ten (10) days of the date of its passage.
