2009-137sAour documents\ordinances\09\2009 ord rescinding ethics com.doc ORDINANCE NO. 2009- AN ORDINANCE RESCINDING ORDINANCE NO. 2004-255 ESTABLISHING A STANDING COMMITTEE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS FOR THE ETHICS COMMITTEE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on September 7, 2004, the Denton City Council heretofore established the "Ethics Committee" (the "Committee") by Ordinance No. 2004-255 to act as an advisory body to the Denton City Council on issues that may arise under the Ethics Policy for the City of Denton; and WHEREAS, the Denton City Council has established that the Ethics Committee be established by resolution; and WHEREAS, the Denton City Council finds that it is in the public interest to rescind the ordinance establishing the Committee as a standing committee of the City Council and recreate this Committee by Resolution; NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. The findings and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. The City Council hereby rescinds Ordinance No. 2004-255 and authorizes that a resolution be brought forth to re-establish the Committee. SECTION 3.
