AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT AND EMPLOYMENT OF AN
INTERIM CITY ATTORNEY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Ed Snyder, City Attorney, has announced his intention to retire as of June
30, 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to appoint and employ John M. Knight as Interim
City Attorney to take effect on July ], 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that this Ordinance is in the public interest; NOW,
THEREFORE;
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The recitals and findings contained in the preamble of this Ordinance are
incorporated into the body of this Ordinance.
SECTION 2. Effective July 1, 2008, ,lohn M. Knight is hereby appointed Interim City
Attorney of the City of Denton and will serve at the pleasure of the City Council until a
permanent City Attorney is appointed.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
