AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDI~NCES OF THE CITY
OF DENTONe TEXASe PROVIDING FOR SEPARATE AND MULTIPLE
HATER AND ELECTRIC METERS, PROVIDING FOR MULTIPLE BLOCK
RATES, PROVIDING FOR MASTER METERS, PROVIDING A CHARGE
FOR CHANGING FROM ~3LTIPLE TO SINGLE METERS AND FROM
SENGLE METERS TO MULTIPLE METERS, REPEALING CONFLICTING
ORDINANCES, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, AND DECLAP~ING AN
E~FFECT/VE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That the Code of Ordinances of the Cmty of Denton, Texas,
ms hereby~amended and supplanted by substmtutlng new subsectmon
(d) to Artmcle 17 05 mn Chapter Seventeen of samd Code of
Ordmnances whmch shall hereafter read as follows
ARTICLE 17.05 - BILLING & COLLECTION FOR SERVICE
(d) Separate Meters Requmred
Each customer mamntalnlng a separate resmdence,
emther house or apartment, shall have a separate
water and electrmc meter, provmded, however, that
multmple dwellings containing slx (6) or more
unmts may be served by one water and electrmc
meter and charged according to the rates applmcable
to commercmal users Customers havmng multiple
dwellings wmth less than slx (6) unmts may have
smngle metermng facmlltles but will be b~lled by
the me~i~9~elal multiple block rate Customers
desmrmng to change from multmple metermng ko master
(1) metering shall be charged $15 00 per meter unmt
Customers desiring to change from smngle metermng to
multmple metering shall be charged a mmnmmum of
$35 00 per meter unmt ~ ~
SECTION II
That all ordinances or parts of ordmnances in force when
the provlsmons of this ordmnance become effectmve whmch are
mnconslstent or in conflmct wmth the terms or provmsmons con-
talned in this ordmnance are hereby repealed to the extent of
any such conflict
SECTION III..
That mf any sectmon, subsectmon, paragraph, sentence, clause,
phrase or word in thms ordmnance, or applmcatmon thereof to any
person or circumstances ms held invalid by any court of competent
]urmsdlctmon, such holding shall not affect the valmdlty of the
remamnmng portmons of this ordinance, and the Cmty Councml of
the City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares mt would have enacted
such remamnmng portions despmte any such ~nvalldmty
SECTION IV
That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14)
days from the date of ~ts passage, and the C~ty Secretary is
hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance to be
published twice ~n the Denton Record Chronicle w~thln ten (10)
days of the date of ~ts passage
