1964-025 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF DENTON~ TEXAS, DECLARING UNLAWFUL THE WILFUL DESTRUCTION
OF PRIVATE AND PUBLIC PROPERTY, PROVIDING A PENALTY
THEREFOR, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, AND DECLARING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Denton, Texas, zs
hereby amended to ~nclude new Article ll 05 in Chapter Eleven of
sazd Code of Ordinances whzch shall hereafter read as follows
ARTICLE ll 05 VANDALISM
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to w~lfully
zn]ure, damage or destroy, or attempt to zn]ure,
damage or destroy, any property belonging to another
or publzc property, of any kznd whatsoever, w~thout
the consent of the owner or manager thereof, and
l~enholder, zf any, thereon
(b) Any person, association of persons, fzrm or cor-
poration vzolat~ng any provzslon of th~s Artzcle
shall be fined upon conv~ct~on any sum not
exceedzng One Hundred Dollars ($100 00), and
each day any such violation contznues shall
constztute a separate offense
SECTION II
That ~f any section, subsectzon, paragraph, sentence, clause,
phrase or word in th~s 0rdznance, or applzcatzon thereof to any
person or c~rcumstances is held lnvalld by any court of competent
]urzsdlctzon, such holding shall not affect the valzdlty of the
remaznzng portions of thls ordznance, and the Czty Counczl of the
City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares ~t would have enacted such
remaining portions desplte any such invalidity
SECTION III
That th~s 0rdlnance shall become effectzve fourteen (14)
days from the date of ~ts passage, and the Czty Secretary zs
hereby dlrected to cause the caption of this Ordinance to be
published twzce ~n the Denton Record Chronicle w~th~n ten (10)
days of the date of its passage/2
