1964-024 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF DENTON~ TEXAS, REQUIRING THE DELTA-SEAL TYPE
JOI~T FOR VITRIFIED CLAY PIPE, TO REDUCE INFILTRATION,
REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES, PROVIDING A SAVINGS
CLAUSE, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Denton, Texas, Ks
hereby amended by substituting new Subsection (3) of Article 4 65
(b) an Chapter Four of said Code of Ordinances which shall hereafter
read as follows
(~) Ail 3olnts must be either caulked, hot-poured, cold
plastic or pre-cast Vitrified clay pipe joints
shall be factory fabricated, using materials having
resilient properties These properties must conform
to all specifications of A S T M Designation C-42~-60T
Ail pipe shall be laid strictly an accordance with the
manufacturer's recommendations, and the contractor
must have suitable experience ~n laying the respective
type of 3olnt
No type 3olnt shall be made when water Ks ~n the trench,
nor shall water be allowed to rase around the pipe
before the joint has set The pipe and bells, ~f any,
shall be cleaned when laid and shall be so laid and
centered as to form a concentric joint without off
setting the interior of the pipe
SECTION II
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances an force when the
provisions of this ordinance become effective which are inconsistent
or ~n conflict with the terms or provisions contained in this
ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of any such conflict
SECTION,III
That ~f any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause,
phrase or word an this Ordinance, or application thereof to any
person or c~rcumstances Ks held invalid by any court of competent
]urlsdlctlon, such holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this Ordinance and the C~ty Council of the
City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares at would have enacted such
remaining portions despite any such invalidity
SECTION,IV
That this Ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14)
days from the date of its passage, and the City Secretary Ks
hereby directed to cause the caption of this Ordinance to be
published twice an the Denton Record Chronicle within ten (10)
days of the date of its passage
