1964-017 AN ORDI~NCE BY THE CItY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON~ TEX~S~ CALLING AND ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 7TH DAY OF APRIL, A.De 1964, THE SAME BEING THE FIRST TUESDAY IN SAID MON~H~ FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING TWO (2) COUNCILMEN FOR THE CITY OF DENTON IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 3, SECTION 3 01 (a) OF THE CHARTER OF TH~ CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING THE HOURS AND PLACE FOR THE SAID ELECTION, PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION OF THIS ORDINANCE AND THE POSTING IN THREE PUBLIC PLACES IN THE CITY OF DENTON AS NOTICE OF SAID ELECTION, DIRECTING THE CITY SECRETARY TO MAKE UP THE OFFICIAL BALLOT, CAUSING THE SAME TO BE PRINTED AND DELIVERED TO THE PRESIDING OFFICER, PROVIDING FOR THE MAKING OF OFFICIAL RETURNS OF SAID ELECTION, PROVIDING FOR THE CANVASSING OF THE RETURNS OF SAID ELECTION AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF SAME BY THE CITY COUNCIL, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE° THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS SECTION .1. That an election shall be held an the Municipal Building an the City of Denton, Texas, between the hours of 8 00o'clock a m and 7 00 o'clock p.m. on the 7th day of April, A D 1964, the same being the first Tuesday of said month, for the purpose of electing two (2) councilmen for the City of Denton, in accordance with the provIsions of Article 3, Section 3 01 (a) of the Charter of the City of Denton, Texas. SECTION 2° That the two candidates who receive the highest number of votes shall be declared elected to the City Council of the City of Denton SECTION 3~ That notice of said election shall be given by the posting of true copies of this ordinance, signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Secretary an three public places an the said City, one of which places shall be at the Municipal Building, for thirty (30) consecutive days prior to the date of the sa~d election and thas ordinance shall be publashed an full one tame in the Denton Reoord-Chronacle at least thirty (30) days prior to the sa~d electaon. SECTION 4 That ~// ~/~/~ ls hereby appoanted Presiding Judge of saad election, and the saad Jf~'~ _~;/~ shall appoant such assastants as may be necessary to properly conduct said electaon SECTION 5 That the Caty Secretary shall make up the offaclal ballot from the names presented to ham by applacataon or nomlnat~ng petltaons as provaded by Article 3, Sectaons 3 02 and 3 03 of the Charter of the City of Denton, Texas, and he as hereby authorized and dlrected to have the ballots to be used an such elect~on pranted and delavered to the sa~d Presiding Judge SECTION 6 That ammed~ately after the counting of the votes the Presadang Judge shall delaver the offlc~al returns of the electaon to the Caty Secretary.
