1964-016 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF DENTON~ TE~AS~ PROVIDING FOR CLEARLY DEFINED EXITS
AND ENTRANCES TO OFF-STREET PARKING AREAS, PROHIBITING
HEAD-IN PARKING ABUTTING A STREET, FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL
PURPOSES, REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES, PROVIDING
A SAVINGS CLAUSE, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION iI
That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Denton, Texas,
is hereby amended by substituting new Subsection (a)~of Article
16 28 in Chapter Sixteen of said Code of Ordinances which shall
hereafter read as follows
ARTICLE 16 28 OFF-STREET PARKING
(a) Chief of Police to Approve Plans for Entrance
and Exits
(1) All off-street parking shall be designed
with clearly defined exits and entrances,
and parking spaces will be so located that
vehicles will not be backed into the street
in order to enter or leave a parking space
(2) Any person, association of persons, firm
or corporation proposing to open any business
or commercial off-street parkzng facilities
within the City of Denton, Texas, shall,
before opening the same, submit to the
Chief of Police drawings or plans, 1n
duplicate, which conform to the City of Denton
specifications on f~le in the office
of the City Secretary which drawings or plans
shall show the proposed entrances and exits
SECTION II~
That all ordlnances or parts of ordinances in force when the
provisions of this ordinance become effective which are inconsistent
or in conflict with the terms or provisions contained in this
ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of any such conflict
SECTION III.
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause,
phrase or word in this Ordlnance, or application thereof to any
person or circumstances is held invalid by any court of competent
jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this Ordinance, and the City Council of the
City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares it would have enacted such
remaining portions despite any such invalidity
SECTION IV
That this Ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14)
days from the date of its passage, and the City Secretary is
hereby directed to cause the caption of this Ordinance to be
published twice in the Denton Record Chronicle within ten (10)
days of the date of its passage
