1964-012 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, DECLARING THAT BARBER COLLEGES
AND BEAUTY COLLEGES ARE USES PERMITTED IN THE "LR" -
LOCAL RETAIL DISTRICT OF THE CITY OF DENTON, REPEALING
CONFLICTING ORDINANCES, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Denton, Texas,
is hereby amended by substltutlng new Subsection (5) of Article
13 17 (a) in Chapter Thlrteen of said Code of Ordxnances which
shall hereafter read as follows
ARTICLE 13 17 "LR" - Local Retail D~strlct
(a) Uses Permltted
(5) Retail stores such as grocery, drug, appliance,
varlety, bakery sales, shoe repair, flowers,
apparel, barber shop, barber college, beauty
parlor, beauty college, and other shops for
custom work or the making of articles to be
sold at retail on the premises, provided,
that no "second-hand goods" store or yard
shall be permitted in the "LR" - Local Retail
District
SECTION ,II,,,
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in force when the
provisions of this ordinance become effective which are ~ncons~stent
or in conflict with the terms or provisions contained in this
ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of any such conflict
SECTION III
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause
phrase or word in thls ordinance, or application thereof to any
person or circumstances is held invalid by any court of competent
]urlsdlctlon, such holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this Ordlnance, and the City Council of the
City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares it would have enacted such
remaining portions despite any such invalidity
SECTION IV
That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14)
days from the date of ~ts passage, and the City Secretary is
hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance to be
published twice in the Denton Record Chronicle within ten (10)
days of the date of its passage
