1965-042 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE TY OF DENTON, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR SEPARATE AND LTIPLE WATER AND ELECTRIC METERS, PROVIDING FOR LTIPLE BLOCK RATES, PROVIDING FOR MASTER METERS, ~ROVIDING A CHARGE FOR CHANGING FROM MULTIPLE TO SINGLE METERS AND FROM SINGLE METERS TO MULTIPLE METERS, REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, DEICLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS ~ECTION I. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Denton, Texas, Ks hereby amended and supplanted by substituting new subsection (d) to Article 17.05 in Chapter Seventeen of said Code of Ordin- ances which shall hereafter read as follows ~RTICLE 17.05 - BILLING & COLLECTION FOR SERVICE .(d) Separate Meters Requlre.d. Each customer maintaining a separate residence, either house or apartment, shall have a separate water and electric meter, provided, however, that multiple dwellings contaln~ng s~x (6) or more un~ts may be served by one water and electric meter and charged according to the rates applicable to com- mercial users. Customers having multiple dwellings with less than slx (6) units may have single meter- lng facilities but will be billed by the residential multlple block rate. Customers desiring to change from multiple metering to master (1) metering or from single metering to multiple metering shall be charged a minimum per meter unit to be established by the City Manager. SECTION II. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances zn force when the provzslons of this ordznance become effective which are consistent or in conflict with the terms or provisions contained in thzs ordinance are hereby~r~p~aled to the extent of any such conflict, and Ordinance No.--~__ is expressly repealed. ,SECTION III. ,That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word in this ordinance, or application thereof to any person or circumstances is held ~nvalld by any court of competent ]urlsdlctlon, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remalnlng portlons of thls ordinance, and the City Council of the ~mty of Denton, Texas, hereby declares it would have enacted such, remaining portions despite any such invalidity. ~SECTION IV That this ordlnance shall become effective ~mmed~ately upon its passage, and the C~ty Secretary 1s hereby d~rected to cause the caption of th~s ordinance to be published twice 1n the Denton Record Chronlcle within ten (10) days of the date of ~ts passage.
