1965-040 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR SEPARATE AND
MULTIPLE ELECTRIC METERS, PROVIDING FOR MULTIPLE
BLOCK RATES, PROVIDING FOR MASTER METERS, PROVIDING
A CHARGE FOR CHANGING FROM MULTIPLE TO SINGLE METERS
AND PROM SINGLE METERS TO MULTIPLE METERS, REPEALING
CONFLICTING ORDINANCES, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE,
AND DECLARING AN EPFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I.
That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Denton, Texas,
is hereby amended and supplanted by substituting new subsection
(d) to Article 17 05 ~n Chapter Seventeen of said Code of Ordin-
ances which shall hereafter read as follows
ARTICLE 17.05 - BILLING & COLLECTION FOR SERVICE
(d) S~parate Maters Required
Each customer ma~ntalning a separate residence,
e~ther house or apartment, shall have a separate
electric meter, provided, however, that multiple
dwellings containing SlX (6) or more units ~ay be
served by one electrlc meter and charged according
to the rates applicable to commercial users Customers
havang multiple dwellangs wath less than sax (6) unats
may have sangle meterang facalataes but will be blll-
ed by the resadentaal multiple block rate. Customers
desar~ng to change from multaple metering to master
(1) metering or from sangle meterang to multaple
meterang shall be charged a manamum per meter unat
to be establashed by the Caty Manager
SECTION II.
That all ordanances or parts of ordanances an force when
the provaslons of th~s ordanance become effectave which are ln-
consastent or ~n conflact with the terms or provasaons contaaned
an thas ordanance are hereby repealed to the extent of any such
conflacto
That if any sectaon, subsectaon, paragraph, sentence, clause,
phrase or word in thas ordanance, or applacatlon thereof to any
person or circumstances is held anvalld by any court of competent
jurasdict~on, such holding shall not affect the valldaty of the
remaa~ang portions of this ordanance, and the Caty Councal of
the Claty of Denton, Texas, hereby declares at would have enacted
such =emeanlng portaons despa*e any such ~nvalldlty
SECTION IV
That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14)
days from the date of ~ts passage, and the C~ty Secretary ~s
hereby directed to cause the caption of th~s ordinance to be
published twice in the Denton Record Chronlcle w~th~n ten (10)
days of the date of ~ts passage
