1965-004 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY ~F ~DENTON~ TEXAS, DECLARING IT UNLAWFUL TO NEGLIGENTLY COLLIDE WITH A VEHICLE LEGALLY STOPPED UPON A PUBLIC STREET OR OTHER PUBLIC PROPERTY, PROVIDING A PENALTY THEREFOR, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS SECTION I~ That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Denton, Texas, is hereby amended by ~ncludlng new Article 16 242 ~n Chapter S~xteen of said Code of Ordinances which shall hereafter read as follows ~H~t~L~ 16 242 - NEGLIGENTLY COLLIDING WITH STOPPED VEHICLE a.) It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle to cause same to coll~de with any other vehicle which is legally stopped upon, or ad3acent to, any public , street or highway or other public property w~th~n the corporate limits of the C~ty of Denton, Texas b.) Every person convicted for a violation of this Article shall be punished by a fine of not less than One Dollar ($1.00) nor more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) SECTION II, That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word in this ordinance, or application thereof to any person or circumstances is held invalid by any court of competent 3urlsd~ctlon, such holding shall not affect the val- idity of the remaining portions of this ordinance, and the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares it would have enacted such remaining portions despite any such invalidity SECTION III, That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14) days from the date of its passage, and the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause the ca~tlon ~ this ordinance to be published twice in the Denton Record Chronicle within ten (10) days of PASSED AND APPROVED th~s /~ day o / , A.D. 1965 Warren Whltson, Jr , Mayor City ~f Denton, Texas ATTEST j Holt, C y Y City of Denton, Texas APPROVED AS TO LEGAL FORM
