AN ORDINANCE AI~.I.sIDING ~IE CODE OF ORD'r~NCES OF ~E
CI~x~ OF DE~TON, TE~S~ SO AS TO PROVIDE A~'rNST
WAGERING OR BETTING ON THE OUTCOME OF ANY BILLIARD
OR POOL GAME, PROVIDING A PENALTY THEREFOR, PROVIDING
THAT EACH DAY ANY SUCH VIOLATION CONTINUES SHALL
CONSTITUTE A SEPARATE OFFENSE, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE, ANU DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I,
That the Code of Ordanances of the Caty of Denton, Texas,
hereby amended by substmtutang new subsectmon (a) to Artacle
10.011- Ballmard Tables an Chapter 10 of saad Code of Ordanances
whach shall hereafter read as follows
(m) Prohabmted persons and actmvataes
(1) It shall be unlawful for any lacensee hereunder
to permmt any known prostatute, procurer, beggar,
drunkard, gambler, or crmmanal character to be
present, or partacmpate at or an any place or
busmness lacensed hereunder
(2) It shall be unlawful for any lacensee hereunder
to permit any person to wager or bet money, or
thangs whmch represent money, on the outcome of
any game bemng played an any place or busmness
lmcensed hereunder It shall also be unlawful
for any person to partmcapate an such wagerang
or bettmng~ money or any other thang of value
on the outcome of any game, whether b~llaards,
pool, or otherwmse, whmch as played at or in
any place or busaness l~censed hereunder
(3) It shall be unlawful for any person to sell,
purchase, possess, or use any alcoholac beverage
on, an, or about any place or busaness lmcensed
hereunder.
SECTION II.
That any person, assocmatmon of persons, farm or corporation
vmolatang any provasmon of thms ordmnance shall be faned upon
convactaon any amount not less than Fmve Dollars ($5 00) nor more
than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00), and each day any such
violation continues shall constztute a separate offense
SECTION III~
That if any section, subsectzon, paragraph, sentence, clause,
phrase or word in this ordinance, or application thereof to any
person or c~rcumstances is held ~nvalzd by any court of competent
3ur~sdzctlon, such holding shall not affect the val~dzty of the
remal~lng portions of this ordinance, and the City Council of the
Czty of Denton, Texas, hereby declares ~t would have enacted such
remaznlng portzons despite any such ~nval~dzty
SECTION IV~
That all ordznances or parts of ordinances ~n force when the
provzs~ons of this ordmnance become effective which are lncons~stent
or in conflict wmth the terms or prov~s~ons contazned ~n this
ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of any such conflzct
,SECTION V.
That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14) days
from the date of its passage, and the Czty Secretary is hereby
directed to cause the caption of th~s ordinance to be published
twice zn the Denton Record Chronicle within ten (10) days of the
date of 1ts passage
