AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, AND TO EXECUTE ALL
INSTRUMENTS NECESSARY TO EXTEND SOCIAL SECURITY COVERAGE
FOR ALL POLICEMEN AND FIREMEN OF THE CITY OF DENTON
PURSUANT TO AGREEMENTS WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF
PUBLIC WELFARE FOR FEDERAL OLD-AGE AND SURVIVORS INSURANCE
BENEFITS UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF APPLICABLE STATE AND
FEDERAL LAWS, DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE TO
MAKE SUCH ADDITIONAL OR SUPPLEMENTARY ASSESSMENTS,
COLLECTIONS~ AND REPORTS AS MAY BE NECESSARY TO PROVIDE
COVERAGE FOR POLICEMEN AND FIREMEN, AND ORDERING THE
ALLOCATION AND SETTING ASIDE IN THE REGULAR CITY
DEPOSITORY IN THE FUND SHOWN AS THE CITY OF DENTON
SOCIAL SECURITY FUND OF SUCH ADDITIONAL MONEY FROM AVAIL-
ABLE FUNDS AS MAY BE NECESSARY TO PROVIDE SOCIAL SECURITY
COVERAGE FOR ALL POLICEMEN AND FIREMEN, AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
.SECTION I, That Jack Reynolds, City Manager of the City
of Denton~ Texas, zs hereby authorzzed~ on behalf of the Czty
of Denton~ to execute and enter ~nto all necessary or supple-
mentary or amendatory agreements wzth the State Department of
Public Welfare for the purpose of extending to and ~nclud~ng
Social Security coverage for all polzcemen and firemen of the
Czty of Denton
SECTION II. That the D~rector of Fznance~ Earl Chandler,
· s hereby d~rected to make such assessments, collectlons~ pay-
ments~ and reports as may be required by the State Department
of Public Welfare to provide Soclal Security coverage for all
policemen and firemen of the Czty of Denton
SECTION III. That a sufficient sum of money be allocated
and set aslde from available funds for the purpose of providing
Social Security coverage for all policemen and firemen of the
C~ty of Denton, such money so allocated and set aside to be
known as a part of the City of Denton's Social Securlty Fund,
which fund shall be set aside and mazntalned ~n the regular
City depository
SECTION IV. The faot that the benefits accruing to the
City and its employees by Including Social Security coverage
for all polzcemen and f~remen are urgently needed creates an
emergency which for the ~mmedzate preservatlon of the publlc
peace~ health and safety requires this Ordinance to become
effective ~mmed~ately upon ~ts passage, and it Ks so ordained
