2007-097S:\Our Documents\Ordinances\07\Durable Specialties Ordinance.doc ORDINANCE NO. ~ aD~J - O I "7_ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS PROVIDING FOR, AUTHORIZING, AND APPROVING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS FOR THE FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION OF LED TRAFFIC SIGNAL LIGHTS FROM DURABLE SPECIALTIES, INC. AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE (REQUISITION NO. 80409) TO DURABLE SPECIALTIES, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $ 62,143.00 WHEREAS; the replacement of traffic signal lights utilizing incandescent light technology with those utilizing LED technology results in cost savings derived from longer live and reduced consumption of electrical energy; and WHEREAS, in order to comply with a request by the Texas Department of Transportation for the replacement of certain traffic signal lights in the City of Denton; and WHEREAS, City of Denton staff, in order to comply with such request, City staff engaged the services of Durable Specialties, Inc to furnish and install LED traffic signal lights within the City; and WHEREAS, Durable Specialties, Inc. has furnished and installed LED traffic signal lights within the City as requested incurring costs in the amount of $62,143.00 and has submitted an invoice to the City requesting payment for said amount; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the public interest to realize the savings to be derived from the installation and operation of LED traffic signal lights within the City and further deems it to be in the public interest to authorize payment of the said invoice submitted by Durable Specialties, Inc.; NOW THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. That the following purchase of services, as described in the "Requisition No." listed below, and on file in the office of the City's Purchasing Agent, is hereby authorized and approved: REQUISITION NO. VENDOR AMOUNT 80409 DURABLE $62,143.00 SPECIALTIES, INC. SECTION 2. That the acceptance and approval of the above item shall not constitute a contract between the City and Durable Specialties, Inc. S:\Our Documents\Ordinances\07\Durable Specialties Ordinance.doc SECTION 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute any contracts, purchase orders or other related documents relating to the item specified in Section l.hereof, and the expenditure of funds pursuant to said contracts or written orders, are hereby authorized. SECTION 4. That Requisition No. 80409 is hereby ratified and retroactively approved, and shall be effective from and after January 19, 2007. SECTION 5.
