ORDINANCE NO. Q -
AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF
THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO ELECT FOUR CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
TO PLACES 1, 2, 3, AND 4 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS
HELD IN THE CITY OF DENTON ON MAY 12, 2007; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The City Council finds and declares that the May 12, 2007 regular
municipal election was duly ordered for the purpose of electing Council Members to Districts 1,
2, 3, and 4; that proper notice of said election was duly given and election officials appointed;
that the election was duly held and the returns of the election officials have been delivered to the
Council, all in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and ordinances of
the City of Denton.
SECTION 2. The official returns of the election officials having been opened, examined,
and canvassed, and the Council hereby finds and declares that 2912 ballots were cast at the
election, and that the votes cast for each District on the Council were as follows:

SECTION 3. The Council finds and declares that each candidate listed below received a
majority of the votes cast for each District on the Council and that each candidate listed below is
hereby declazed to be elected to the City Council of the City of Denton:
FOR DISTRICT 1: Charlve Heegins
FOR DISTRICT 2: Pete Kamp
FOR DISTRICT 3: Jack Thomson
FOR DISTRICT 4: Chris Watts
and the candidates shall assume the duties of their office on the date that they take the official
oath of office.
SECTION 4. The City Council has found and determined that the meeting at which this
Ordinance is considered is open to the public and that notice thereof was given in accordance
with provisions of the Texas open meetings law, Tex. Gov't Code ch. 551, as amended.
SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
