AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF AN INTERIM CITY
MANAGER; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Michael A. Conduff, City Manager, has announced his intention to retire as
of December 31, 2005; and
WHEREAS, the City Council Appointees Performance Review Committee has
recommended that Howard Martin, Assistant City Manager ("Martin') be appointed Interim City
Manager to take effect on January 1, 2006; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that this ordinance is in the public interest; NOW,
THEREFORE;
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The recitals and findings contained in the preamble of this ordinance are
incorporated into the body of this ordinance.
SECTION 2. Martin is hereby appointed Interim City Manager of the City of Denton
effective January I, 2006 and he will serve at the pleasure of the City Council until a permanent
City Manager is appointed. During his service as Interim City Manager, Martin shall receive a
five per cent pay increase effective January 1, 2006.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
