2017-085 Summary Downtown ProjectsDate: December 1, 2017 Report No. 2017-085 INFORMAL STAFF REPORT TO MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL SUBJECT: Information current and upcoming projects in Downtown Denton BACKGROUND: A recent request was made to obtain additional information on construction projects in Downtown Denton. The following is listing of known projects, their status, and estimated timeline for completion within the next 90 days. Facilities/Parking Lots: Project Scope: Status: Estimated Completion: Cedar Street Parking Lot Remove/replace surface parking, install landscaping, lighting for 86 spaces. Project will also include missing sidewalk segment between Cedar and Elm (south side of McKinney). Under construction April 2018 Steering Committee Process for City Hall West Renovation Established steering committee of 24 people to explore strategies for future use and potential renovation of CHW Initial kickoff meeting scheduled for mid- Dec. 2017 Mid 2018 Traffic Signal Replacements: Project Scope: Status: Estimated Completion: N. Locust/E. Oak Replace traffic signals at this intersection Nearly complete December 2017 N. Elm/E. Hickory Replace traffic signals at this intersection Waiting until after the holidays April 2018 N. Elm/E. Hickory Replace traffic signals at this intersection Waiting until after the holidays April 2018 N. Elm/E. Oak Replace traffic signals at this intersection Waiting until after the holidays April 2018 Date: December 1, 2017 Report No. 2017-085 Sidewalks: Project Scope: Status: Estimated Completion: Oakland Street Construction of a sidewalk segment from Oak Street north-McKinney on the east side of Oakland. Awaiting underground utility locations and clearance. February 2018 Maintenance: Project Scope: Status: Estimated Completion: Railroad tie and debris Worked extensively with Union Pacific to remove all debris and rail ties from the UPRR Maintenance Yard adjacent to the DCTA Station.
