AN ORDINANCE GF THE CITY OF DENTON, TExAS, AUTHORIZING ASSIGNMENT
PAY FGR FIRE DEPARTMENT CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYEES WHO ARE ASSIGNED T4
PERFORM SPECIALIZED DUTIES AND REQUIRED TO BE ON CALL AND
FREQUENTLY AVAILABLE VIA A CELLULAR PHONE; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 143.42 of the Local Government Code authorizes a municipality to
pay assignment pay, which is in an amount payable under conditions set forth by ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and Fire Chief have identified those users who are
frequently required to be accessible via their City cell phones during normal working hours and
often times after normal working hours; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and Fire Chief have recommended the fallowing
classifications and assignments receive an allocated monthly assignment amount based on historical and expected City usage:

NOw, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS;
SECTION 1. Ali prior ordinances or resolutions of the City of Denton, Texas, in conflict
herewith are repealed to the extent of any such conflict,
SECTION 2, The classifications and assignments recomumended by the City Manager
and Fire Chief are hereby authorized to receive the specified monthly assignment amount based
an historical and expected City usage,
SECTION 3 , This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval,
