AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 18-210 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO
REMOVE THE SCHOOL SAFETY SPEED ZONES FOR SLrLLIVAN KELLER AND THE
FORMER LOCATION OF IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CATHOLIC SCHOOL;
PROVIDING A FINE NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00); PROVIDING
A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
~ql~.CTION 1. Chapter 18 "Motor Vehicles and Traffic" of the Code of Ordinances of
Denton, Texas is hereby mended by deleting Section 18-210.A.9. regulating speed for the former
Sullivan Keller Elementary and Section 18-210.E. 1. regulating speed for the former Bolivar Street
location of the Immaculate Conception Catholic School fxom Chapter 18 titled "School Safety
Speed Zones."
SF. CTION 2. An individual adjudged guilty of the provision of this ordinance shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor and punished by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00).
RI~C. TTON 3. That this ordinance shall be cmulative of all other ordinances of the City of
Denton defining school zones and school bus loading zones and shall not repeal any of the
provisions of said ordinances except in those instances where provisions of those ordinances are in
direct conflict with the provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. That if in any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word
in this ordinance, or application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid by any court
of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this
ordinance, and the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas hereby declares it would have enacted
such remaining portions despite any such invalidity.
RRCTION 5. That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14) days fxom the date of
its passage, and the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance to be
published twice in the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official newspaper of the City of Denton,
Texas, within ten (10) days of the date of its passage.
