runoff, ~f any, shall be as follows 1 For the Central Countmg Station George Spuller, Preslchng Judge, Don Alexander, Manager, and Randae Smith, Tabulation Supervisor 2 For Dlslnct No I Ruby Cole, Pres~dmg Judge and Alma Clark, Alternate Judge 3 For District No 2 Dons Clupman, Presiding Judge and Mary Meeay, Alternate Judge 4 For D~stnct No 3 Bill Wllhamson, Presiding Judge and Kathlecn Blggs, Alternate Judge 5 For District No 4 Jimmle Colvflle, Presiding Judge and L~nda Hafez, Alternate Judge 6 Jenmfer Walters, C~ty Secretary, shall conduct early voting under the Texas Election Code 7 George Spuller shall be Presiding Judge for the Early Ballot Board The presldmg judge of the Central Counting Station and of each d~stnct are authonzed to appoint a sufficient number of clerks as necessary to assist them in the election, including bilingual assistants as reqmred by law The rate of pay for election judges and clerks shall be the maximum amount prowded for by State law SECTION 4 That early votmg shall be conducted for the election, and the runoff election if necessary, by the Office of the C~ty Secretary in the Municipal Building at 215 East McKlnney Street in the City of Denton, Texas The polls for early voting by personal appearance shall be open between the hours of 8 00 a m and 5 00 p m Monday through Friday, eommencmg on April 18, 2001, and en(hng on May 1, 2001 In addation, early voting shall be held on Saturday, April 21, 2001, between the hours of l0 00 a m and 3 00 p m, at the same location as weekday early voting SECTION 5 That the Mayor is hereby d~rected to provide notice of the election, and the runoff election if necessary, m accordance w~th Sections 4 002 and 4 003 of the Texas ElecUon Code, thelnotiee to be pnnted in the Spamsh language and the Enghsh language SECTION 6 That an electromc voting system, usmg optically scanned ballots, meetmg the requ~rem6nts of Chapter 124 of the Code, shall be used for saad election Preparation of the necessary eqmpment and official ballots for the election shall conform to the reqmrements of the Texas Election Code SECTION 7 That the City Secretary is authorized to prepare the official ballot election officers named above shall make returns for the election in the manner reqmred by law The ballots that are properly marked m conformance with the prowslons of the Texas Election Code for votes cast both dunng the period of early voting and on the day of the election shall be counted in the manner required by law SECTION 9 That the manner of holding such election and all questions pertalmng thereto shall be governed by the election laws of the State of Texas SECTION 10 Substantial cop~es of this ordinance ~n both English and Spamsh shall serve as proper notice of the election and smd notice shall be (a) published at least once m a newspaper of general circulation published wlttun the City, not less than the tturtleth day or later than the tenth day before the election, (b) posted, not later than the twenty-first day before the election day, at a pubhc place m each election dmtnct that ~s ~n the jurisdiction of the city, (e) posted, not later than the twenty-first day before election day, on the bulletin board used for posting notices of meetings of the City Council of the City, and (d) posted, as may otherwise be required by Tex Elec Code §4 003 and other appheable law SECTION 11 That it is hereby offimally found and determined that the meeting at wtuch this ordinance is passed was open to the pubhc as reqmred and that pubhc notice of the time, place, and purpose of smd meeting was given as reqmred by the Open Meetings Act, chapter 551 of the Government Code, Tex Rev Clv Stat Ann 1997 SECTION 12 That this ordinance shall become effective ~mmedmtely upon its passage, pubhcatlon, and approval PRESENTED AND PASSED on the ~ day of February, 2001, at a regular meeting of the C~ty Council of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, by a vote of ~ ayes and ~} nos at
