AN ORDINANCE
DIRECTING THE PUBLICATION OF NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ISSUE
CERTIFICATES OF OBLIGATION OF THE CITY OF DENTON,
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE STATE OF TEXAS

WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary and advisable that Notice of Imentlon to Issue Certificates of
Obligation be given as hereinafter provided
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
Section I That attached hereto is a form of"NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ISSUE CERTIFICATES
OF OBLIGATION OF THE CITY OF DENTON", the form and substance of wluch are hereby adopted and
approved, and made a part of tlus Ordinance for all purposes
Section II That the City Secretary shall cause said NOTICE, m substantially the form attached hereto,
to be published once a week for two consecutive weeks in a newspaper of general c~rculation m the C~ty, with
the date of the first publication to be at least fifteen (15) days before the date tentatively set for the passage of
the Ordinance authorizing the issuance of such Certificates of Obhgation
Section III That this Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon Its passage and approval

TO ISSUE CERTIFICATES OF OBLIGATION
OF THE CITY OF DENTON
THE CITY OF DENTON, m Denton County, Texas, hereby gives not,ce of~ts ~ntentton to issue CITY
OF DENTON CERTIFICATES OF OBLIGATION, m accordance with the Certificate of Obligation Act of
197 i, as amended and codified, and other applicable laws, tn the mammum pnnmpal amount of $12,120,000
for the purpose of paying all or a portion of the City's contractual obligations ~ncurred pursuant to contracts
for the purchase, constmctmn and acqmsltion of certain real and personal property, to wit (a) improvements
at the City's mrport, (b) equipment for the City's public parks, (c) construction and equipping ora new central
fire statton located at the comer of Bell Avenue and I-hckory Street, Denton, Texas, (d) ~mprovcments to the
City's solid waste d~sposal system, (e) vehicles for the Cay's motor pool, (f) computer and technology
eqmpment and upgrades for the City's mfonuatton technology systems, and (g) nuscellaneous renovations and
~mprovements to City owned facilities, and also for the purpose of paying all or a portmn of the City's
contractual obhgatmns for professional senates, mcludtng engineers, archttects, attorneys, map makers,
auditors, and financial advisors, in connectton with the preparatxon of the City's Comprehensive Development
Plan, Open Space Plan, Downtown Master Plan and Facdtty Space Study and in connectton wtth the above
contracts and smd Certificates of Obhgat~on The Ctty proposes to provide for the payment of such
Certfficates of Obligation from the levy and collection of ad valorem taxes tn the City as provtded by law, and
from certmn surplus revenues (not to exceed $10,000 m aggregate amount) derived by the C~ty from the
ownership and operation of the City's Utthty System (consisting of the C:ty's combined waterworks system,
sanitary sewer system, and electric hght and power system) The City Council ofthe C~ty tentatively proposes
to authorize the ~ssuance of such Cert:fieates of Obhgation at a meeting commencing at 1 30 p m on the 1st
day of May, 2001, m the City Council room at the Mumctpal Budding (City Hall), 215 E McK~nney, Denton,
