AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 18 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF DENTON RE A ING MOTOR
VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC, AMENDING SECTION 18-109 TO ADD A DISABLED
PARKING SPACE ON WEST HICKORY STREET AND TO REMOVE A DISABLED
PARK1NG SPACE ON ROBERTS STREET BECAUSE IT IS NO LONGER NEEDED,
PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE,
PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO BE LESS THAN $250 OR MORE THAN $500
FOR VIOLATIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE,
AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION 1 That Section 18-109 of the Code of Ordinances shall be amended by
deleting the current Section 18-109(a)(19) whmh reads as follows
(19) One (1) parallel parking space on the south stde of Roberts Street at 718 Roberts
Street
SECTION 2 That Section 18-109 of the Code of Ordinances shall be further amended
by adding a new Section 18-109(a)(19) to read as follows
(19) One parking space on the north side of Hickory Street, forty (40) feet east of its
intersection with the east curb hne of Miller Street
SECTION 3 An lnchvidual adjudged gmlty of any of the provm~ons oftNs ordinance or
of any portion of Section 18-109 shall be guilty of a m~sdemeanor and punished by a fine not less
than Two Hundred-Fifty Dollars ($250 00) and not more than F~ve Hundred Dollars ($500 00)
SECTION 4 That this ordinance shall be cumulative of all other ordinances of the Oty
of Denton and shall not repeal any of the provisions of smd ordinances except ~n those instances
where provisions of those ordinances are in direct conflict w~th the provisions of this ordmance
SECTION 5 That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word
~n this orrhnance, or apphcat~on thereof to any person or c~rcumstance is held ~nvahd by any
court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remmmng
pomons of this ordinance, and the City Councd of the City of Denton, Texas hereby declares it
would have enacted such remmnlng portions despite any such ~nvahdlty
SECTION 6 That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14) days from the date
of its passage, and the C~ty Secretary is hereby d~rected to cause the caption of this ordinance to
be published twice in the Denton Record-Chromcle, the official newspaper of the City of
Denton, Texas, within ten (10) days of the date of its passage
