AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN LANES ON BOTH
SIDES OF HERCULES FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH STUART ROAD TO ITS
iNTERSECTION WITH REDSTONE ROAD, PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO
EXCEED $200 00, PROVIDING A SEVER_ABILITY CLAUSE, AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION 1 That the Cxty Traffic Engmeer shall designate Ncycle and pedestrian lanes
estabhshed by the Cxty Council by the placement of appropriate s~gns and road marl~ngs
SECTION 2 That the followmg streets or portions of streets are hereby designated Ncycle
and pedestrian lanes
Two lanes approxanately four feet m w~dth measured fi:om the curb on each s~de of Hercules
fi:om ~ts ~nterseet~on w~th Stuart Road to ~ts intersection with Redstone Road
SECTION 3 That when s~gns and markings are in place glwng the existence of any Ncycle
and pedestrian lane estabhshed by thru ordinance, at shall be unlawful for any person
(1) To operate a Ncycle along any port~on of the roadway except w~thm the pomon of smd
roadway wNeh ~s demgnated as a Ncycle lane,
(2) To operate a motor veNcle, motorized bacycle, motor-driven cycle, or motorcycle along
and w~tNn a Ncycle lane,
(3) To park a motor velucle across or on a Ncycle lane, except to obtmn emergency parking,
where mgns are posted proNNtmg such parktng, or
(4) To make or execute a mm when driving a motor veNcle across a Ncycle lane wathout
y~eldmg the nght-of-way to all Ncycles operated w~thm the lane
SECTION 4 That any person who wolates a prows~on ofth~s ordinance shall be guilty of a
m~sdemeanor pumshable by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred ($200 00) Dollars
SECTION 5 That ~f any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word m
this orrhnance, or apphcataon thereof to any person or c~rcumstance ~s held mvahd by any court of
competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the vahd~ty of the remmmng port~ons of tNs
ordinance, and the C~ty Councal of the CRy of Denton, Texas, hereby declares at would have
enacted such remmmng portions despite such ~nvalld~ty
SECTION 6 That tbs ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14) days from the date of
~ts passage, and the City Secretary is hereby d~rected to cause the caption of ttus ordmance to be
pubbshed twice m the Denton Record-Chromcle, the official newspaper of the C~ty of Denton,
Texas, w~tlun ten (10) days of the date or,ts passage
