AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS FOR EMERGENCY
PURCHASE OF MATERIALS, SUPPLIES OR SERVICES IN ACCORDANCE WITH
PROVISION OF STATE LAW EXEMPTING SUCH PURCHASES FROM REQUIREMENTS
OF COMPETITIVE BIDDING, PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE (PURCHASE ORDER
03622 TO DARR EQUIPMENT CO IN THE AMOUNT OF $27,498 75)
WHEREAS, state law and ordinance reqmre that certain contracts reqmrlng an
expenditure or payment by the City in an amount exceeding $15,000 be by competitive bids,
except in the case of public calamity where mt becomes necessary to act at once to appropriate
money to relieve the neeessay of the emzens of the c~ty, or in case of unforeseen damage to
public property, machinery or equipment, and,
WHEREAS, the C~ty Manager has recommended to the City Council that it is necessary to
purchase goods or services due to the following emergency conditions outhned ~n the memorandum
attached hereto, ~ncorporated here~n by reference, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SI~CTION I That the City Council hereby determines that there is a pubhc cal[lllllty
that makes it necessary to act at once to appropriate money to relieve the necessity of the citizens
of the city, or to provide for unforeseen damage to public property, machinery or eqmpment, and
by reason thereof, the following emergency purchases of materials, equipment, supplies or
services, as described in the "Purchase Orders" referenced herein and on file in the office of the
Purchasing Agent, are hereby approved

SECTION II That because of such emergency, the City Manager or designated employee ~s
hereby authorized to purchase the materials, eqmpment, supphes or services as described m the attached
Purchase Orders and to make payment therefore ~n the amounts there~n stated, such emergency purchases
being in accordance w~th the prowsmns of state law exempting such purchases by the C~ty from the
reqmrements of ¢ompetmve b~ds
SECTION III Th~s ordinance shall become effective immed~ately upon its passage and
approval
