AMENDMENT TO THE DELINQUENT TAX ATTORNEY CONTRACT WITH THE LAW
FIRM OF LIbIEBARGER, HEARD, GOGGAN, BLAIR, GRAHAM, PE~A & SAMPSON,
L L P, AND THE LAW FIRM OF GREGORY & BRADSHAW, P C EXTENDING THE
CONTRACT FOR AN ADDITIONAL ONE YEAR TERM ENDING ON JUNE 30, 2001,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO GIVE WRITTEN NOTICE TO THE FIRM OF
ITS DESIRE TO EXTEND THIS CONTRACT, AMENDING THE FIRM NAME AND
MAKING ADDITIONAL CHANGES TO THE CONTRACT, AUTHORIZING THE
EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the initial term of the City's Contract for the Collection of Delinquent
Property Taxes w~th the law firm of Lmebarger, Heard, Goggan, Blair, Graham, Petfa &
Sampson, L L P (formally known as Blmr, Goggan, Sampson and Meeks), and the law firm of
Gregory & Bradshaw, P C (formally known as the Law Office of Mike Gregory) expires on
June 30th of tlus year, and
WHEREAS, Section XIII "Term" of the Contra, ct authorizes the City Council to extend
the contract two additional one year terms upon the City giving written notice to the law firms at
least 30 days prior to June 30, 2000, of its desire to continue the contract, and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended that the Contract be extended for an
additional one year term commencing July 1, 2000 and ending June 30, 2001, and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended that the Contract needs to be amended
to reflect the change in the firm name, and by substituting for the phrase "Executive Director of
Finance" the phrase "Assistant City Manager for Finance and Municipal Services", and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it in the public interest to extend and amend the
contract, NOW,, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION 1 That the Contract for the Collection of Dehnquent Property Taxes between
the City and the law firm of Llnebarger, Heard, Goggan, Blair, Graham, Pefia & Sampson, L L P,
and the law firm of Gregory & Bradshaw, P C, executed June 17, 1997, as hereby amended
(Contrae0, be extended under the same terms and conditions for an additional one year term
beginning July 1, 2000 and enchng on June 30, 2001 That the City Manager is hereby
authorized to execute the First Amendment to this Contract in substantially the form of the
attached First Amendment to the Contract for the Collection of Delinquent Property Taxes which
is made a part of tlus ordinance for all purposes

SECTION 2 That the City Manager ~s hereby directed to give written notice to the law
firms at least 30 days prior to June 30, 2000 of the C~ty Council's desire to extend th~s contract
for an ad&tlonal one year term enclosing a true and correct copy ofthas ordanance
SECTION 3 City Manager is authorized to undertake the expenditure of funds and to
perform the other obhgat~ons as set forth m the contract
SECTION 4 That this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage

This First Amendment to that cartmn Contract made and entered ~nto between the C~ty of
Denton, Texas, 215 E MclQnney, Denton, Texas 76201 ("City"), acting herem by and through
its governing body, and the Law Finn of Lmebarger, Heard, Goggan, Blmr, Graham, Pefia &
Sampson, L L P, and the Law Finn of Gregory and Bradshaw, P C 303 N Carroll Boulevard,
State 100, Denton, Texas 76201, hereinafter referred to as the "Firm"
WHEREAS, the Cxty Council has authorized the extension of the contract for Collection
of Dehnql~ent Property Taxes between the C~ty and the F~rm for a one year period endmg on
June 30, 2001, and
WHEREAS, the contract needs to be amended to reflect the changes m the F~rms name
and to amend Section VIII "Progress Reports" to substitute for the phrase "Executive D~rector
of Finance" the t~tle "Assistant C~ty Manager for F~scal and Mumc~pal Servmes",
In consideration of the following terms and conditions the Contract for the Collection of
Dehnquent Property Taxes between the part~es ~s hereby amended as follows
