AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE RENEWAL OF A CONTRACT FOR HEALTH
INSURANCE ORIGINALLY AWARDED PURSUANT TO ORDINANCE NO 99-376 TO
AETNA U S HEALTHCARE, WITH THE RENEWAL FOR THE YEAR 2001 BEING IN
THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF $4,183,822, AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF
FUNDS THEREFOR, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTWE DATE
WHEREAS, pursuant to Orchnance No 99-376 the City Council of the City of Denton
awarded a contract for health insurance (the "Health Insurance Contract") to Aetna U S
Healthcare ("Aetna") for a period of one year with two one year options to renew, with the first
year conunenmng on January 1, 2000 and ending December 31, 2000, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the pubhc interest to renew the Health
Insurance Contract for a second year, beginning on January 1, 2001 and ending on December 31,
2001 in the estimated annual mount of $4,183 822
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION 1 The Health Insurance Contract is hereby renewed for an additional year,
beginning on January 1, 2001 and ending on December 31, 2001 in the estimated annual amount
of $4,183,822 The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute any document with Aetna that
may be necessary to evidence this renewal
SECTION 2 The City Manager is authorized to make the expenditures as set forth in the
Health Insurance Contract and this ordinance
SECTION 3 This or&nance shall become effective lmmethately upon its passage and
approval,
