AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS PROVIDING NO PARKING ON
THE NORTH SIDE OF PRAIRIE STREET FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH BONNIE
BRAE EAST ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY FEET, PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE; PROVIDIING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE, PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT
TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS, AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON,TEXAS HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION 1 When signs or markmgs are in place giving notice thereof, no person shall
park a vehicle on the north side of Prmne Street from its intersection with Bonnie Brae Street
east for one hundred and eighty (180) feet It shall be a defense to prosecution ifa vehicle must
stop there to avoid conflict with other traffic or to comply w~th the direction of a police officer or
official traffic control device
SECTION 2 If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase, or word in
th~s ordinance, or appheatlon thereof to any person or circumstances ~s held invalid by any court
of competent jansdieUon, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remmnmg portions of
this ordinance, and the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas hereby declares it would have
enacted such remmmng portions despite any lnvahdlty
SECTION 3 Save and except as amended hereby, all the provisions, sections,
subsections, paragraphs, sentences, clauses, and phrases of the Code of Ordmances shall remain
in full force and effect
SECTION 4 Any person found gmlty of violating this ordinance by a court of competent
jurisdiction shall be fined a sum not to exceed two hundred dollars
SECTION 5 Th~s ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14) days from the date of
its passage, and the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance to be
published twice in the Denton Record-Chromcle, the official newspaper of the City of Denton,
Texas, w~thm ten (10) days of the date of its passage
