1999-096AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS DISSOLVING THE DENTON
DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD AND REPEALING ORDINANCES 91-
021, 91-071, 95-259 AND ANY OTHER ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS,
TO THE EXTENT OF ANY CONFLICT, CONVEYING THE APPRECIATION OF THE
COUNCIL TO ALL CURRENT AND FORMER MEMBERS OF THE DENTON DOWNTOWN
DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD, AND PRESCRIBING AN IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE
DATE
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 91-021, the Counml of the C~ty of Denton, Texas established a
Denton Downtown Development Advisory Board to provide advice and recommendations to the
City Council and other appointed boards or commissions m decm~ons and issues involving the
orgamzatmn, promotaon, appearance, rewtahzatmn, and economic development of the downtown
area and central busmess chstnet, and
WHEREAS, through ~ts service to the Council and the citizens of Benton, the Denton
Downtown Development Advisory Board proved its worthiness s~nce 1991 whmh followed
prompting the City Council to continue the board and to change ~ts makeup and residency
requirements m Ordinance Nos 91-071 and 95-259, and
WHEREAS, the duties and functions of the Denton Downtown Development Adwsory
Board have been assumed by the C~ty of Denton's Economm Development Department and staff,
~nclud~ng ~ts Mmn Street Manager, and, as a result, the City Council no longer deems ~t ~n the
pubhc ~nterest to continue the Board, NOW THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I That Orchnance No 91-021, whmh created the Denton Downtown
Development Adwsory Board, are hereby repealed, along w~th Ordinance Nos 91-071 and 95-259
and any other ordinances m conflxct w~th the purposes of th~s ordinance, to the extent of any such
conflict only
SECTION 1I That the Council of the C~ty of Denton, Texas hereby conveys ~ts deepest
appreclatmn to all current and former members of the Denton Downtown Development Adwsory
Board for their loyal and dedmated serrate to the City Cotmcd and the mt~zens of Denton
SECTION III That this ordinance shall become effective ~mmedmtely upon ~ts passage and
approval
