AN ORDINANCE NAMING THE NEW PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE IN THE CIVIC CENTER
PARK WITHIN THE CITY OF DENTON AS THE FESTIVAL BRIDGE, AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the Caty Councal passed Resolution No R97-003 on January 21, 1997
setting guadellnes regarding the namang of parks and park facthtaes, and
WHEREAS, on July 22, 1998 the Denton Festival Foundation requested that the Parks
and Recreation Board gave serious consaderation to namang the new bridge m Carat Center Park
"Festaval Bridge", due to the many culturally daverse events whaeh take place an the Park, and
WHEREAS, an accordance with these gmdelmes, a "Namang of the Bridge Committee"
composed of Dale Yeatts and Dalton Gregory recommended to the Parks and Recreation Board
the name of"Festival Bridge" for the new pedestrian bridge an Cavac Center Park, and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Reereataon Board, at ats November 16, 1998 meeting
approved the recommendataon and recommends to the C~ty Council for ars cons~derataon the
name of"Festaval Bridge" for this facalaty, and
WHEREAS, the Caty Councal has determined that ~t would be proper and fitting to name
the bridge "Festaval Bridge", NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I. That the new bridge ~n Cavlc Center Park located on the south end of the
Park shall now and hereafter be known and desagnated as "Festival Bridge"
SI3CTION II. That tNs ordinance shall become effective ~mmedmtely upon ~ts passage
and approval
