AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS AMENDING ORDINANCE 99-034
PROHIBITING PARKING ON SCHOOL DAYS FROM 7 30 A M TO 3 30 P M ON THE
NORTH SIDE OF SUN VALLEY DRIVE FROM THE EAST CURB OF STUART ROAD TO
THE EAST CURB OF YELLOWSTONE PLACE, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE,
PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, PROVIDING A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED
TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
~ That when mgns or markmgs are ~n place g~vlng notme thereof, no person
shall park a vehmle on school days from 7 30 a m to 3 30 p m upon the following street ~n the
City of D~nton
On the north side of Sun Valley Drive from the east curb of Smart Road to the east curb
of Yellowstone Place
~ That the prowslons of Section I proh~Ntlng the parking of vehicles shall
apply on school days from 7 30 am to 3 30 p m to the demgnated portion of the above named
street or streets except when it m necessary to stop a vehicle to avoid confhct with other traffic or
~n compliance with the direction of a pohce officer or official traffic control devine
~ That all provisions of the ordinances of the City of Denton in conflict
with the provlmons of thts ordinance are hereby repealed, and all other prowmons of the
or&nances of the City of Denton, not in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance, shall
remmn ~n full force and effect
~ That if any promslon of this ordinance or application thereof to any person
or circumstance m held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other prov~mons or
apphcatlons, and to this end the prommons of thru ordinance are severable
~ That any person adjudged gmlty of parking a vehmle m violation of tNs
ordinance shall be gmlty of a misdemeanor and punished by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred
Dollars ($200 00)
~That this orchnance shall become effective fourteen (14) days from the
date of 1ts passage, and the C~ty Secretary is hereby directed to cause the caption of this
ordinance to be published twice m the Denton Record-Chromcle, the official newspaper of the
C~ty of Denton, Texas, within ten (10) days of the date of ~ts passage

SEVER3 BILITY CLAUSE, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFI ',CTIVE DATE
~ I-IEREAS, Ordinance 99-127 was passed on April 6, 1999 creating a no parking area
on the nc rth side of Sun Valley Drive near Glrm~ngs Elementary School, and
¥ rlIEREAS, since the implementation of the ordinance DISD has reconstructed the
school g~ ounds and driveways so that th~s no parking area ~s no longer necessary, and
x$ rI--IEREAS, the C~ty Council finds that ~t ~s ~n the pubhc ~nterest that the no parking
ord~nanc; should be repealed, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CC UNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS ~ That Ordinance 99-127 ~s hereby repealed
CTION 2 That this ordinance shall repeal every prior ordinance in conflict herewith,
but onl insofar as the portion of such prior ordxnance shall be ~n confhct, and as to all other
section: of the ordinance not in d~rect conflict herewith, this ordinance shall be and ~s hereby
made ct nulaUve except as to such prior ordinances or pomons thereof as are expressly repealed
hereby
~ That ~f any prows~ons of this ordinance or apphcatlon thereof to any person
or mrcUmstances is held ~nvahd by any court, such holding shall not affect the vahd~ty of the
remalm~ag porUons of th~s ordinance, and the C~ty Councd of the City of Denton, Texas hereby
declare~ that it would have enacted the remmmng portions despite any such ~nvahd~ty
~ECTION 4 That th~s ordinance shall become effective tmmed~ately upon passage and
