AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF
THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO ELECT FOUR CITY COUNCILMEMBERS
HELD IN THE CITY OF DENTON ON MAY 1, 1999, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I The C~ty Council finds and declares that the May 1, 1999 regular mumc~pal
elect~on was duly ordered for the purpose of electing four councdmembers to Places 1, 2, 3, and
4, that proper nonce of smd election was duly g~ven and elect~on officmls appointed, that the
elect~on was duly held and the returns of the elect~on officmls have been dehvered to the
Counml, all ~n accordance w~th the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and ordinances of
the C~ty of Denton
SECTION II The offimal returns of the elect~on officmls hawng been opened, examined,
and canvassed, and the Counml hereby finds and declares that 3,609 ballots were cast at the
elect~on, and that the votes cast for each place on the Counml were as follows

SECTION III. The Council finds and declares that each candidate listed below received
a majority of the votes cast for each place on the Council and that each candidate hsted below is
hereby declared to be elected to the City Council of the City of Denton

and the candidates shall assume the duties of their office on the date that they take the official
oath of office
SECTION 1V That the City Council has found and determined that the meeting at which
this ordinance Is considered ~s open to the pubhc and that notice thereof was given in accordance
with provisions of the Texas open meetings law, Tex Gov't Code ch 551, as amended, and that
a quorum of the City Council was present
SECTION V. That th~s ordinance shall become effective immediately upon ~ts passage
and approval
