WHEREAS, the City of Denton honors the distinguished life and legacy of Dr.Perry McNeill,
a man of profound intellect and integrity who arrived in our community to serve
as a professor at the University of North Texas after a distinguished career,where
he dedicated himself to the mentorship of students and the advancement of his
field;and
WHEREAS, Perry's commitment to our city only deepened in retirement,as he channeled his
curiosity and passion for civic engagement through the Leadership Denton
program into impactful public service, first as Chairman of the Board for the
Denton Chamber of Commerce and subsequently as a dedicated member of City
Council;and
WHEREAS, serving with tireless dedication and a desire to improve the lives of others,Perry
was elected to serve as Mayor of Denton, leaving behind a legacy of thoughtful
leadership,humor,and kindness that shaped the progress of our community and
provided a model of excellence.
NOW,THEREFORE, I,Gerard Hudspeth,Mayor of the City of Denton,Texas,do hereby proclaim the
memory of Perry McNeill to be held in the highest regard by this community as
we celebrate a life truly well-lived.
