oreetings;:
WHEREAS, the City of Denton honors the remarkable life of Gene Gohlke,who arrived in our
community in 1953 to attend North Texas State College and remained for over 70
years,building a life of purpose alongside his beloved wife;and
WHEREAS, as the longtime owner of Gene Gohlke Building Products, Gene became a
cornerstone of the local economy and a model of integrity, operating under the
philosophy to "Do what you say you are going to do and always do the right
thing,"earning him induction into the UNT Family Business Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, Gene's devotion to Denton extended far beyond his business through his
leadership in the Chamber of Commerce,the Denton Homebuilders Association,
and the First Christian Church among others,a legacy of service that was officially
recognized by the City in 2018 when March 61' was named "Gene and Judy
Gohlke Day."
NOW,THEREFORE, I,Gerard Hudspeth, Mayor of the City of Denton,Texas,do hereby proclaim the
memory of Gene Gohlke to be held in the highest regard by this community as we
celebrate a truly well-lived life.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and
caused the official seal of the City of Denton,Texas to be affixed
