Public Meetings & Agendas | Denton, TX (civicplus.com) General Information & Status Updates A. FY 2027 Community Project Funding Requests – The City has submitted two FY2027 Community Project Funding (CPF) requests to Denton-area Congressional offices. These requests provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to direct federal funding to projects within their districts. This year, the City has engaged Congressman Ronny Jackson and Congressman Brandon Gill to advance the following proposals: • Mingo Road Bridge Flooding Prevention – $1,000,000 This request would fund design and engineering work to raise the Mingo Road bridge over Cooper Creek (just west of Loop 288) in order to address chronic flooding and improve public safety. • Denton Police Department Special Event Mobile Barricades – $544,805 This request would support the purchase of 32 mobile anti-vehicle barriers to enhance safety at large community events. The submitted requests will now be reviewed by the Congressional offices for potential inclusion in the federal appropriations process. If selected for funding, the City would likely receive the allocation in mid to late 2027. Staff contact: Kristi Fogle, City Manager’s Office B. Monthly Financial Reports – The Monthly Financial Report provides a year-to-date comprehensive overview of the City of Denton's financial performance, including key revenue and expenditure highlights, as well as budget variances. The January 2026 Monthly Financial Report can be accessed here. Staff contact: Matt Hamilton, Finance C. Library Staff Development Day – All library facilities will be closed on Friday, March 20, for annual staff development training. Employees from all three locations will gather to learn new skills and share best practices. The Library staff development day is an invaluable tool for creating a cohesive vision for library service. This year’s training includes tours of other local public libraries to see facilities and learn about other library services and operations. Library staff members will also complete required safety training classes in the afternoon. Library closings are posted at all locations, on the library’s automated phone system, on the library website, and on library social media. Materials on hold for library patrons will remain on hold one extra day due to the closure. Staff contact: Jennifer Bekker, Libraries 2 D. May 2 Election Polling Location Selections – On March 3, Council unanimously approved the City’s proposed polling locations for the May 2, 2026, General & Special Elections. These locations must also be approved by Denton County Elections and Denton ISD, who will share sites for their respective elections. During the Early Voting period, residents may vote at any early voting location, but must vote at their assigned polling place on Election Day. The City’s polling locations for both Early Voting and Election Day are provided in the tables below. Performance Scorecards – In the City’s continuous effort to enhance transparency and keep the community informed about the City of Denton’s ongoing work, the Office of Strategy, Budget, and Performance is pleased to present Facilities and Fleet’s Performance Scorecard. This can be accessed via the City's Strategic Plan Dashboard under "Performance Scorecards." These scorecards, a product of performance workshops, assist departments in formulating a purpose statement, identifying core services, and establishing measures for effective service evaluation. The data visualizations presented on Facilities and Fleet’s scorecard help tell the department’s story and demonstrate their dedication to proactively managing and maintaining the City’s facilities, fleet, and equipment to support operational continuity, workplace safety, and efficient service delivery across all departments. Staff contact: Aimée Kaslik, City Manager’s Office F. Mayor’s Pet Spotlight – Chyna is an 8-year-old Chinese Shar-Pei who has been in the shelter since December and is urgently seeking a home. She is housebroken, crate-trained, and walks well on a leash, making her an easy addition to most homes. Chyna enjoys car rides and is food motivated, which helps with training and bonding. She knows basic commands and loves playing with toys, making her a favorite among volunteers. Chyna is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and needs a calm, stable environment to recover. She can be wary of strangers at first, but with patience and gentle introductions, she warms up and shows her affectionate side. Her behavioral and mental state indicate she would thrive best in a quiet home where she can feel secure and loved. Fostering Chyna not only gives her a break from the shelter but also supports her medical recovery and emotional well-being. Chyna must be the only animal in the home. Please contact Denton Animal Services at (940) 349-7594 or via email at Animal.Services@cityofdenton.com. Staff contact: Bailey Coleson, Animal Services 4 Responses to Council Member Requests for Information A. Eagle Creek Development Debris – On Mar. 3, Mayor Pro Tem Rumohr shared an inquiry from a resident regarding debris from a development blowing from the site. Staff visited the site and discussed the need to provide covered receptacles to prevent litter from blowing around the area with the active operators. The operators were instructed to provide receptacles for all new structures being constructed. Additionally, Parks staff have prioritized Eagle Creek and the surrounding area for the Great American Cleanup on March 28. Residents can report issues through Denton 311 for City Staff to track and respond via phone app, phone call, or email. For more information, visit the Denton 311 page. Staff contact: Charlie Rosendahl, Development Services B. MLK Jr. Pedestrian Bridge Signs – On March 12, Council Member Holland shared a request for an update on new wayfinding signs for the Martin Luther King Jr. Pedestrian Bridge. The existing wayfinding signs in the City are a different style and material from our typical signage, as they were manufactured by a third-party company when they were initially installed. To save money and prepare for future maintenance, the City is producing the signs in-house. There is a lead time on materials, and staff expects the signs to be installed by March 20. Staff contact: Charlie Rosendahl, Development Services 5 Upcoming Community Events and Public Meetings Please visit the City of Denton website for upcoming community events and details.
