Council is scheduled to consider the appointment of members to the Main Street Advisory Board at the September 22, 2026 meeting. DISCUSSION: The Main Street Advisory Board shall consist of seven (7) voting members and two (2) non-voting ex-officio members who are appointed by the City Council. Denton Main Street Advisory Board members will serve two-year terms and may serve up to three consecutive terms. The establishing ordinance specifies that appointed members must represent certain categories when filling seats on the Board. Representatives from Denton County and the University serve as ex-officio members and do not have defined terms of service. A total of eleven (11) applications were submitted, with eight (8) applicants eligible for either voting or ex-officio positions. The remaining applications were ineligible for the following reasons: 1. The applicant did not fall within one of the required board membership categories. 2. The applicant withdrew their application. 3. The applicant is a business owner who already serves on the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Number One (TIRZ 1) Board.
