are highlighted videos that the Council is encouraged to share:

•Denton Animal Shelter Adopts New Tech YouTube
The implementation of new staff-led technology at the Denton Animal Shelter issetting a new standard for animal care.
•Water Works Park Opens This Weekend! YouTube

D.Mayor’s Pet Spotlight – “Rowdy” Roma is ready for a new owner! This year-old,Pit/Labrador mix was brought into the shelter as a stray on February 28. With some much-needed TLC and office time,
the staff helped her decompress. Now, Roma walks on a
leash and does well in the office environment.
She needs someone patient who can help train her to manage this behavior. Roma is very dog-friendly and is the star of
our playgroups with other dogs at the shelter.
Staff continue to provide her with toys, runs, playgroups, and office time, but the noise and stress of the shelter are taking
a toll on her. Staff hope that being featured as the Mayor's
Pet Spotlight will help Roma find the loving home she deserves.
Please contact Denton Animal Services by phone at (940) 349-7594, or via email at

Information from the City Manager
From time to time, I would like to share with the City Council local government-related resources
that I find insightful, interesting, or timely. These may be studies, periodicals, reports, or web resources. My intent is to make the Council aware of broad perspectives and discussions and not to suggest any policy or service change. – Sara
Agreements to provide emergency services outside the local city jurisdiction strain resources. Our
neighbors to the east are also reevaluating their relationship with the rural community they serve. There are a few articles that address the issues many rural communities and cities now face.
Citizens in Collin County are looking into options similar to those that we have implemented here with the Emergency Services District to help improve the economic impact that local cities face when serving unincorporated areas. Please view the article here.
Budget constraints are prevalent in the local government sector. Georgetown is exploring various ways to adjust and mitigate the budget deficit. Please view the article here to learn more about similar strategies and tactics that they are using to help reduce the deficit.
